Topic: Self-Discipline and the Foundations of Character Development
Our annual AMI Refresher course will delve into the concept of self-discipline. We will revisit the idea of developing self-discipline versus being externally disciplined. We will consider the importance of each individual’s abilities to develop characteristics such as persistence, empathy, and resilience and how they affect the classroom community as a whole. How do we foster concentration, development of the will, and a sense of self? Beyond the classroom, we will think about the ways that self-discipline will affect the society which the children will eventually contribute to and create.
