Admissions

Important Message for International Applicants: At this time, our diploma programs are available exclusively to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents. We are unable to accept applications from international students.

Before you begin your application there are a few documents to prepare. You will be asked to upload the following in a pdf format:

Statement of Purpose: please write a 1–2 page essay that addresses the following:

  1. Your interest in Montessori education.
  2. The factors that have influenced your decision to pursue Montessori education at this particular age level.
  3. The personal qualities, traits, and characteristics you possess that will support your success as a Montessori guide or teacher
  4. Your reasons for choosing the Foundation for Montessori Education for your Montessori teacher training

We are interested in hearing your authentic voice and getting to know you better. The essay is not meant to be a research essay nor a show of how well you can use AI tools to write, organize, and present information. Instead, consider this as your opportunity to thoughtfully share personal ideas, motivations, experiences, and reflections.

  • proof of completion of post-secondary courses in which the language of instruction was English

  • By email to fme@montessori-ami.ca or

If you have a copy of your transcript and would like to upload it, so we can begin to review your application, you may. However, we must receive a copy directly from the post-secondary institute as well.

Credential Assessment (if applicable): If your degree or diploma was obtained outside of Canada you must have it assessed to determine the equivalency in Canada.

  • If you have already obtained an assessment, from a university or an assessment agency, you may upload it to your application.
  • If you do not have an assessment already then it can be done through the Comparative Studies Department of any Canadian University, or through an assessment agency such as the World Education Service (wes.org) with a document-by-document assessment.
