Applying to the AMI Montessori 3-6 Diploma Program at the Foundation for Montessori Education is just your first step in acquiring an internationally recognized AMI diploma. By completing this program, you will earn your AMI Diploma, the only Montessori credential bearing Dr. Maria Montessori’s signature. Our training centre was opened by Renilde Montessori, carrying forward a rich legacy of excellence in Montessori education.

Prerequisites
- A Bachelor’s Degree or;
- A College Diploma, or a Career College Diploma, with a minimum of two years’ work experience
- This program is conducted at a university level an the language of instruction is English. Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency by providing proof of completion of post-secondary courses in which the language of instruction was English, or an IELTS Academic (or equivalent) score of 6 with no band below 5.5
- Those who hold a degree from a university outside of Canada must have their degree assessed by an academic credential evaluation service, or a recognized Canadian University and submit the assessment along with their application. The World Education Services provides credential assessment on a document-by-document basis.

Course Requirements
The AMI Montessori Primary Diploma is granted upon satisfactory completion of the course requirements including:
- attendance at lectures and supervised practice
- fulfilling observation and practicum requirements
- submitting written assignments
- creating reference albums and resource manuals
- material making assignments
- attaining passing grades on written examinations
- attaining passing grades in oral examinations conducted by examiners of the AMI

Course Schedule
May 19, 2026 to July 30, 2027
Online Sessions will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm ET and select Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm ET.
Plan for an additional 12-15 hours per week of self-scheduled work and independent study during both the online and onsite weeks.
In-Person Sessions will be held 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
- July 6 – July 31, 2026
- October 19 – 30, 2026
- March 8 – 20, 2027
- July 5 – 23, 2027
Written Exams: June 1 & 3, 2027
Oral Exams: July 26 – 29, 2027 pending AMI confirmation oF examiners.
Observation and Practice Teaching: Eight weeks of combined observation and practice teaching to be completed during the academic year.
Access to a 3 – 6 prepared environment during the distance modules is recommended to allow for practice with the materials. The Training Centre will be open from time to time for this purpose for those who are in the area.
Course Tuition Fees
The tuition fee for the 2026 – 2027 program is $12,650 CDN payable as follows:

Approximately $500.00 CAD should be budgeted for albums, books and materials.
FME reserves the right to cancel the course if the minimum enrollment is not met.
