AMI Refresher Course

Dive back into the heart of the Montessori method by rediscovering the profound importance of the Sensorial Area in a child’s development. This refresher course is designed to deepen your understanding and practical application of the Sensorial materials.

“From three to six years, children have a real ‘sense hunger’, they love to touch things, to fit different shapes together, to grade colours and musical sounds. The material is carefully gradated to satisfy the child’s every need, and once the child has fixed his attention, he becomes a little individual, no longer an imitator.” Maria Montessori Speaks to Parents

  • The Hidden Purpose of the Sensorial Area: Dr. Montessori’s vision and the fundamental role of these materials is to prepare the child’s “intelligence for the real world.” Together we will explore the vital intellectual and emotional benefits of the sensorial area.
  • The Senses and Brain Development: Explore the fascinating link between the materials, the refinement of the senses, and setting the foundations of the reasoning mind.
  • Fostering Deeper Concentration: Refresh your approach to the area by re-examining the basic pattern of presentation. Explore effective strategies for follow-up through games and extensions, that naturally cultivate longer periods of concentration.
  • Interconnected Learning: Gain insights into how the Sensorial materials are the origins of STEM education which involves observation, classification and experimentation. Discover how focused observations on the key components of the Sensorial area support integration with the other disciplines of the Casa environment.

We welcome all AMI 3-6 Diploma holders to join us! As the discussions and practical applications will build directly upon your initial AMI training, the diploma is a prerequisite for all participants. We look forward to connecting with our AMI colleagues and continuing the journey of discovery together. We will, as always, continue to offer all other Foundation for Montessori Education events for the wider community of Montessorians.
